The internet is for porn!

… And to get informed easily. As you may know, I’m studying Graphic Design, in my career, especially since third year, you need to do a lot of digital works, not just in graphic things, you have to make brand strategies and stuff, so along to type it and prepare the digital presentation, you need to get informed, that’s the most important thing. The information allows you to know the right strategy for a determinate Market situation.

Information is changing constantly, now with internet you can know what’s happening here in Chile almost at the same moment (or in a very short time), also you can be connected with all the world.

I remember when I was in the school, in primary I had to make all the homework with ICARITO, it was very difficult because IF you had the luck of having the magazine that talked about the topic you needed to know it was fine, but if you haven’t, good luck with your homework then. Of course there was always the encyclopedia, but among to be expensive it was a pain in the ass, small letter, you couldn’t cut it to get the images, always dusty, etc, etc. After that came the virtual encyclopedia, it was fine for school, but in the university you need fresh information and of a big number of topics that Encarta couldn’t give you.

I had internet since the year 2000 and I found a lot of good uses of it, like I said before, get information for homework, be connected fast with other people (msn and email), be able to read comics as soon as they are released, same thing with videogames and music, it’s just fantastic…of course if you had a good connection.

So that is, I love internet, I couldn’t even imagine my life without it, and of course if you finish your task there are always time for…

My career sucks...

Photobucket

Today I'm going to write about my career, more about of what I need to become a designer than the career itself.

As you know I'm studying Graphic Design in Universidad de Chile, Basically the skills any person needs is to be (at last) a bit creative, be objective about our own work and the most important is to have a lot of common sense. If you have these characteristic, then you can be a good designer. Personally I only have common sense and to be objective, but zero creativity, that’s why some kind of homework are so tedious and difficult to me, like when I have to design a logo or something like that, in the other hand my fort point is when I have to do Strategic design, involved more with marketing than graphic skills.

I think that there are some inborn qualities that you need, like I said before, creativity, but this one can be exercised, just like others like drawing ability, but there some qualities that any person must learn, like diagramming or drawing techniques.

The University in which I’m studying is the best one in Chile in this area, but has a few weak points, like infrastructure and lessons relevance, like graphic expression, is a very useful class but we only have two years of this class, and for me was just one because of first year, I had a teacher who was insane, a total waste of time and money, we should have that class from the first year till the last one.

I’m a bit worried about my working future, because of my poor graphic styles, I do not want to be always tired due to constant late nights of my life, I feel I'm getting older because of the demands of the career, and the working world is not much easier.

So in resume my career sucks, hope I can win the lottery or something like that.

Algarrobo, my place

The place I enjoy visiting the most, it’s very common really, it’s a beach in the Region of Valparaiso named Algarrobo, yea, just like the tree. I go there every year, not just on summer vacation; I go with my family whenever we can, like in winter vacation or long weekends. I like Algarrobo because it’s a quiet beach (I really love the sea) and a nice commune, the people is nice and the breeze it’s salty. I also like the sand of this beach which is thin and white (with a bit of yellow) not black like other littoral beaches, like Cartagena. I like to swim a lot and Algarrobo has the best beaches for swimming, not like Valparaiso who has a lot of waves, that’s too dangerous. My family has a house in there, that’s why we can go often, the house is small but cozy, it’s very nice really, in the first floor is the living room and the American kitchen, so we all can share together all the time, even if someone is cooking, the living has a fireplace, we use it in winter to keep the house warm, I think that the house is a very important part of why I like Algarrobo. But by itself it’s a beautiful place; here I’ll post some pictures of the coast of Algarrobo.

A never ending movie

I don´t remember the first time I saw this movie, probably in a national channel, or maybe my mom rented it (on Errol’s of course!), the thing is that I was like 5 years old, and the movie talked about fantasy, dreams, fear and the sad that adults world were.
The movie I’m talking about is Die unendliche Geschichte, also called The never ending story directed by Wolfgang Petersen and released in 1984, this movie is an adaptation of a book, the story shows us a common day in Bastian’s life, a kid like we all were in the past, but who has his own problems, like the lost of her mother, and the bulling he suffered everyday from other children bigger than him. One day escaping from that kids, Bastian hide in a special bookstore, were the librarian was reading a strange book that called Bastian’s attention. Disobeying the librarian’s advice, a curious Bastian took away the book to read it. When he starts reading the story in the book is when Bastian starts a never ending story.
I’m not going to tell you anymore, I would spoil you if you haven’t seen it jet. It’s a really good movie with old FX, a bit childish maybe, but the message is really good for all adults and kids, to never stop dreaming.

Hope you see it someday.

The best ads in all the WOW

Hello, today I’m going to write about a couple of commercials that I simply love!

I’ve saw them a lot of times, I never get tired of them. These commercials were an advertising camping that the company BLIZARD makes for his top product, the MMORPG (Massive online Multiplayer role-playing games) World of Warcraft.

On this commercials you cans see a bounck of famous (and cool) characters, mostly actors, like Lawrence Tureaud (Mr T), Jean Claude Van damme, William Shatner, ozzy Osburne, verne troyer (mini-me from Austin Powers), Willy Toledo (Spanish actor) and some others, they were exhibited in television and internet mostly in WOW official website and youtube.

The greatest about these commercials is that these characters tell to the audience the great its wow by talking about THEIR characters and the abilities or good points they have. Of course every ne gives to their character unique qualities, for example Van Damme speaks about their character a Mage Troll, and he talks about the bored he was of fighting with his fists in real life, but in the game he could use magic, play with the elements (ice, fire, etc) and polymorph others into sheeps.

I hope you found these spots so funnies as I though they are, you have to see all of them, and they are simple greatest ad I saw (of course in the context that you know these characters).

Wasn't me!

During the earthquake that did Chile shake last February I was in the beach with my mom, we were sleeping. My mom waked me up and told me to get covered in the door frame; I pass the entire earthquake sleeping in the door frame. I was really unconcern about all that; just when it finished and I wake up a bit more I realized that the house could fell down, because it’s really old.

During the earthquake I felt really sleepy, and in a mean mod because I hate interrupted sleep. My mom was worried and praying for the house not to come down.

Maybe if the movement would have been a bit more intense and longer, the whole house would fall down, also the Santiago house; fortunately nothing bad happened to the constructions itself.

I’m a really unconcerned person, so I’m okay, the earthquake isn’t a big topic to me, it’s gone, it will be others in the future but it’s ok, people die every time, so I don’t really worried if I die in an earthquake, tsunami or something, the only thing that I really care about it’s that my beloved persons didn’t get hurt (and that is like 3 people In the world), it’s a bit egoistic, but that’s how I am.
